Nissan Intelligent Mobility

A BOLDER RIDE THROUGH LIFE

When cars and communities are designed to work together, our world becomes a better place. At Nissan, we’re always developing new ways to help make driving both smarter and safer.[*]

REDEFINING
HOW WE MOVE

Today, we have an initiative called Nissan Intelligent Mobility, which focuses on three things: how our vehicles are powered, how they are driven, and how they are integrated into society. We are designing vehicles that will drive you to your destination and park themselves, and researching roads that will charge your Electric Vehicle (EV) as you drive. These developments aren’t in the distant future—they are taking shape in the Nissan vehicle you drive today.[*]

NISSAN INTELLIGENT DRIVING

SERENA BLAZES A TRAIL FOR THE FUTURE

What if you actually looked forward to your morning commute? Nissan Intelligent Driving technology, available on Serena van in Japan and coming soon to other vehicles like Qashqai and LEAF, makes traffic less stressful and your drive more enjoyable. The system keeps pace with cars ahead, can fully brake if necessary, and keeps you centered in your lane, even when the road takes a slight bend. In heavy traffic or highway cruising, it gives you more control and confidence, plus freedom when you want it.

IT'S LIKE DRIVING WITH SUPERHUMAN SENSES

Many Nissans are already equipped with technologies that help look out for you, monitor the situation and in some cases can even step in to help save the day.

Intelligent INNOVATION THAT’S
ON YOUR SIDE

Today’s Nissan vehicles offer available technologies that help look out for you, and some of them CAN even take action and help you avoid trouble. The available Blind Spot Warning with available Blind Spot Intervention is just one feature in a comprehensive suite of Intelligent Safety Shield Technologies.[*]

OPTIMIZING POWER

We are always researching and developing ways to make our EV battery as efficient as possible. The third-generation lithium ion battery that goes into the Nissan LEAF® charges quicker and lasts longer than its predecessors. We’ve also launched a forward-thinking company called “Second Life”, which is dedicated to recycling the lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles.

TOGETHER WE EMPOWER

NISSAN INTELLIGENT INTEGRATION

A connected ecosystem of drivers, vehicles, and communities is key to a cleaner and safer world. Nissan is playing a central role in defining what the roads of the future will look like, from autonomous cars to traffic management systems to car sharing. Seamless Autonomous Mobility (SAM), for example, is a system designed to make autonomous cars smarter with every trip. It uses human mobility managers to help autonomous cars deal with the unexpected, like construction zones, then share what they have learned with other cars in the system - a case of human and artificial intelligence creating a sense of community on the road. EV CHARGING STATIONS

Nissan is a world leader in charging infrastructure, and we currently have more than 2,300 quick charge stations in Europe and an ambitious goal to reach 5,500 by the year 2020. We are committed to making sustainable driving accessible to everyone and we are currently collaborating with a number of innovative companies to make it happen.

VEHICLE TO GRID

Nissan is active in the development the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) system in different European cities in preparation for a wider deployment of the system that will span the continent. As well as accessing renewable energy, drivers on the V2G system can connect their electric vehicle to the grid during off-peak periods, use the electricity stored in the vehicle’s battery to help power their home, or even sell it back into the electrical grid.[*]
